We took a family vacation to the Greenbrier for the rest of the week after the 4th of July. Us kids grew up learning our "Greenbrier Manners," but never had the chance to use them... I guess it took us thing long to learn them! :-)
Holden was fascinated with every floor in the hotel. They were either very busy carpet, or these shiny black and white squares where she could see her reflection.
There's lots of amazing shopping at the Greenbrier, apparently she likes red shoes!
The upholstery throughout the hotel is beyond beautiful. One sitting area had butterflies scattered throughout the pattern and Holden was obsessed with finding them all.
She clearly has not perfected her Greenbrier Manners yet:
They redid the outdoor pool a few years ago to include a zero entry and then 'infinity' at the other end. Holden had a ball walking around the shallow end; we tried another different float for the deeper end but she wanted nothing to do with it.
There's an adorable toy store that we spend a good amount of time playing in. Somehow we even got out each time without buying anything! Holden moved from one toy to the next so quickly, she never got attached to any one thing. Her favorite by far were all the life-size stuffed dogs, she ran to each and every one to hug!
Another Holden must have been there recently too, I found this already done in the alphabet train letters:
This vacation was exhausting for Holden! She was out late every night at the pageant and was moving all morning doing different things. This was after playing in the indoor pool for over an hour... we were able to at least keep her afternoon nap in tact each day, she was practically begging for one.
Aunt Sarah and Chris really took advantage of the amazing room service each day AND the complimentary hotel robes :)
Every day at 4:15, they host a tea in the main lobby. To kick it off, the servers file in with silver trays, then a set of dancers announce the tradition and perform the Greenbrier Waltz.
Our last night there, we were all dressed up for the final night of the pageant and went to the best dinner at Sam Snead's at the golf clubhouse. Holden loves steps, and even more so when they are covered in golf balls to point at.
The Greenbrier is hosting a PGA tour event at the end of July and have alot of the grandstands already set up. Our table at dinner overlooked the 18th green with the hospitality tents, I wish we could go back for it!
Our whole group! Drew, Holden, Gigi, me, Aunt Sarah, Chris, Uncle Bonn, Kiersten, Uncle David, and Beverly:
