Downtown Chicago

Once the Powers kids were off to school Monday morning, we played at the school playground and then left for downtown Chicago to meet up with Amanda and Nick.

They have a great house in the Wicker Park neighborhood, so we were able to walk around and find a fun park.

The plan was to go to a Cubs game that night... unfortunately the weather had other plans. We still headed to Wrigley and had dinner across from the field. It wasn't raining when we finished, so we got our tickets and went in... where it immediately started pouring again. We got Drew's picture by the field and headed home, maybe next time we'll see some of an actual game!

The game actually got played, but didn't start until after 10pm and we all had to leave the house by 6am to get to the airport. Holden and I had a bit more time to kill before our flight so grabbed breakfast. We had a great trip and can't wait to go back!

Weekend with the Powers

We took a long weekend to visit Chicago last weekend. Drew had to be there for work and it was his birthday, so Holden and I decided to tag along!

While Drew was working over the weekend, Holden and I spent time with the Powers in Batavia. Holden has been talking non-stop about them since they visited us in Charlotte back in June and has been SO excited to see them again.

We took the kids to Lego Land Sunday morning, it was pretty cool to see the city of Chicago made from Legos.

Holden watched her first 3D movie and did okay keeping the glasses on throughout the 10-minute movie. She was reaching her hands out to 'grab' stuff a few times :)

Building masterpieces:

The boys had hockey practice, it was incredible to see these little guys on skates... so cute (that's Blake down there)!

Drew made it to the Powers Sunday evening in time for a birthday cook out and judging a jump contest.

Followed buy an impromptu dance party/performance:
